Meet Joe Puente

Hi, I'm Joe. Hmmm, where should I start? Well, I was born in Los Angeles, California and lived there for about six years before moving with my family to Madera County, California in 1980 where we lived in the towns of Coarsegold and Oakhurst respectively until 1989 when my family moved to Mt. Pleasant, Sanpete County, Utah. The first time I lived in Utah, I was here until 1993 when I finally left the nest to serve in the Navy. For the next five years, I lived in Illinois, Massachusetts, Florida, Panama and Maine where I was discharged in 1998. I then came back to Utah where I spent a few years in Ogden before going back to Sanpete County. After a 7 year stint in Sanpete I moved to Salt Lake City.

My family has been spread all over the country and then some. From Southern California to New England and "across the pond" in Europe and Asia! I have six brothers, two sisters and even a few sibs-in-law sprinkled in for good measure.

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1983 and I'm happy sharing my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with friends and strangers alike, but only if they're interested. I'm not one to wear my religion on my sleave.

I've been writing since I was about eleven years old. Fiction in the form of short stories, novels and screenplays. Nonfiction in the form of essays, talks and news articles and I've never stopped. For the record, I am a serious Mac enthusiast and primarily use a MacBook for my writing.

I am also a Filmmaker and I founded a non profit organization called Utah FilmWorks which operates as a production company and as a resource for independent filmmakers in Utah.

I hope that you enjoy your visit to my little corner of the InterWeb. Your questions, comments and criticisms are all welcome.
